Abstract
Ted Hughes is a remarkable poet in English Literature. His wife Sylvia Plath is also one of the renowned American poets of twentieth century. Ted Hughes is better known as the “Champion of the poetry of violence”. He symbolized Hawk from his point of view by bringing its natural drive and impulse on prey. To Ted Hughes, animals and birds are powerful symbols. The Hawk, for instance, is a symbol of arrogance and megalomaniac dictator. Through this poem the author brought the megalomaniac dictators of the society to lime light. Human beings destroy the fauna and flora, killing birds and animals nowadays we dare to kill the human mercilessly for personal revenge. Cutting trees and ruin the dense forest deliberately to fulfill our desires is quite common. History tells upon a lot of megalomaniac dictators such as Hitler, Mussolini, Napoleon, Idi Amin etc.. One could find megalomaniac dictators in the form of administrator, teachers sometimes parents often complaining one to other.
